Blogger Recognition Award
We adore Blogging Recognition Awards, and being tagged into posts where we get the chance to celebrate our blogging community. In a tweet, earlier this week, we expressed that blogging is not an easy game and so when fellow bloggers recognise your hard work and enjoy what you put out into the ether – it is the best feeling in the world. You feel seen, heard and respected. Today, it is our turn to return the honour of the Blogging Recognition Award.
The rules of this award are simple.
- Thank the blogger that nominated you and give a link to their site.
- Do a post to show your award.
- Give a summary of how your blog started.
- Give two pieces of advice for any new bloggers.
- Select at least 15 other bloggers for this award.
- Let each nominee know you’ve nominated them and give a link to your post.
Being nominated by the mighty eco-friendly living warrior, Michelle Oram, IS the biggest compliment we could receive. She is the closest we’ll ever get to Sir David Attenborough and we are incredibly grateful to have responded to her Blog Take Over back in September, which has led to this beautiful friendship.
Michelle’s blog boomerecocrusader.com focus’s mostly, but not exclusively, on sustainability and eco-friendly living, and the environment. We encourage you to take a look at her blog and be inspired into caring for your mind, body and health by taking care of our environment – our soul.
How we started our blog
Lets face it, 2020 has seen the biggest change in our lives to date. A virus, remarkably, shut down the whole world and here in the UK, we were shut down for nearly 6 months. Our industry – just like every one else’s ceased production. Theatre’s closed their doors to the public, tv sets shut down, shows that were in rehearsal were cancelled for the foreseeable future and all future research and development work came to a halt. We, like the rest of the world, were lost because all we knew was how to tell stories and connect with humanity through these stories, no matter how weird or wild they were. Telling stories in the way we knew how was compromised.
We needed to keep creatively sane and so T.B.C at Hyacinth for the Soul was born. The three of us, who live in different parts of the UK, were able to come together to create a space where we could talk about our industry. However, our blog became more than that. T.B.C became an extension of our creativity, another way for us to explore who we were, learn about what made us tick and learn about other people. It became another place to share information, experience and connect with others – our creative flow found another outlet. That is the beauty of Art – it always finds a way to express itself. And we continue to learn…
Two pieces of advice for any new bloggers
Schedule your tweets. We can honestly say, scheduling tweets is one of the best things you can do in order to increase interaction with your blog. We have started to schedule 2-3 tweets a day, at different times and we tag as many blogging retweet accounts as we can, world wide. The outcome was a notification from word press, yesterday, telling us that we had increased blog traffic since we started in March. It could also be that we have made lots more connections and understand blogging a little more, but it was a wonderful notification to receive nonetheless.
It is important to state that we are NOT about numbers. We enjoy what we do and we don’t mind that our traffic or numbers may not be as high as some other bloggers out there. That is OK. We know that those who like our work will find their way to us, in the same way that we will find our way to them.
Be authentic! Be YOU!
There are lots of blogs out there with a similar style and tone. What we whole heartedly recommend is that you find your own voice. Like acting – you can always tell an actor who has trained at a certain school as opposed to some one who is just pure natural raw talent. Raw talent speaks from the heart and is refreshing. In order to stand out – just be you. Embrace your unique style and voice and understand that there is room for all of us. That is the beauty of blogging – it is such a diverse world, we can all have a say and we learn from each other.
We always search for variety and diversity in thought, subject, style and tone. Being yourself is your greatest power.
We are pleased to introduce our diverse list of nominees. Amongst many other bloggers such as Concealed Voices and Smelly Socks and Garden Peas (who have already been nominated, rightly so) – we are inspired by the following list of bloggers. We enjoy their thought provoking and informative posts, and we always look forward to more from them.
Enjoy engaging and even if you choose not to continue the tag – know that we appreciate you and everything you do from the posts you write to the interaction we have with you on your socials.
Here are our Nominees – do take some time to check them out. You’ll be glad you did.
